Hello Everyone,
Despite the wet weather, about 30 people showed up for the first
class. I hope you had a good time and are excited about doing it
again next week. Stay posted in case plans change.
Since it rained, many of you were not able to take notes as I had
planned so here's a few tidbits of what we covered yesterday...
FRONT SNAP KICK
Quick points to remember
1. knee up, pointing towards target
2. hit target with point of shoe or ball of foot
3. snap back
4. force of kick moves upward into target
5. similar to a jab, it's quick and keeps opponent away
NOTE: The three scenarios we covered were...
1. attack on initial movement
2. rushing in attack
3. sidestepping attack
SIDE STANCE
Quick points to remember
1. minimizes the available open targets
2. position of hands determines what's open
3. practice in front of a mirror to recognize open areas
4. stay slightly on the balls of your feet for mobility
5. keep weight evenly distributed on both legs
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT(S)
1. practice front snap kick scenarios
2. devise 3 other usages of how you might be able to use the front
snap kick against the targets we discussed against opponents (ex:
how would you use it if someone were to punch at you? what if they
kicked instead?)
3. take your measurements this week on mile time, 100 yard dash,
and verticle leap
Again, thank you to those who made it out in the rain yesterday. I
hope you left excited about what is to come next. Please feel free
to invite others to next week's class, but have them register on the
website first and confirm their attendance with me. Thank you!
Peace,
Lorens
